J. Robert Smith

Mr. Smith is an experienced litigation attorney with over 25 years of practice in complex civil litigation, primarily in the areas of business, shareholder and trust, and estate litigation. Rob has extensive experience in all aspects of litigation in both state and federal courts, including bench and jury trials, arbitrations, and hearings. Rob has successfully litigated and tried numerous cases on a wide variety of matters, including breach of contract, unfair business practices, consumer complaints, intellectual property, trade secrets, business torts, fraud, professional errors and omissions, products liability, property disputes, shareholder actions, securities actions, partnership disputes, and business defamation. Rob’s clients range from Fortune 500 companies to sole proprietors to individuals.
Rob is originally from Seattle where he graduated from the University of Washington with majors in Philosophy and Anthropology. Rob attended The George Washington University Law School, where he graduated in 1996. Rob returned to Seattle after law school and practiced there until he moved to Reno in 2007, joining the law firm of Hale Lane.
Rob is admitted to the Nevada State Bar, Washington State Bar (inactive), all Federal Courts in Nevada and Washington, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Rob is a member of the Nevada State Bar and Washoe County Bar Associations.
When not litigating, Rob enjoys traveling (both domestically and internationally), investing, archaeology, hiking, sailing, and laughing.
